Artwinery is one of the largest sparkling wine producers in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, originally based in the city of Bakhmut (formerly Artemivsk) in Donetsk Oblast. The winery historically aged its sparkling wines in vast underground gypsum mines beneath Bakhmut, where stable temperatures of 13–14°C and consistent humidity created ideal conditions for bottle fermentation — the same méthode traditionnelle used in Champagne. The cuvée blends Chardonnay, Riesling, and Aligoté grapes, and the wine undergoes a minimum of nine months of aging on lees in bottle before disgorgement. Due to the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, Artwinery relocated operations to Odesa Oblast in southwest Ukraine in 2023, preserving the craft while adapting to extraordinary circumstances.
